Semaglutide or Tirzepatide Weight Loss Injections

We Offer 2 Types of Injection Medications:

Semaglutide is a compounded & generic version of Ozempic & tirzepatide is the compounded and generic version of Mounjaro.

Semaglutide is a pharmaceutical medication that emulates the function of gut hormones known as incretins. It is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that helps control the body’s glucose levels. The medication also helps by reducing appetite and promoting satiety (the feeling of being full). The brand names for this medication are Ozempic and Wegovy.

Tirezepatide is a GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. It is considered a "dual agonist" because it targets both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. This brand name of this medication is commonly referred to as Mounjaro. It is known to often have less side effects than semiglutide and more weight loss.

How Are These Medications Given?

All weight loss medications are given through subcutaneous injections with a small insulin needle. These injections are nearly painless and become second nature once you are used to them. Most applications occur in the abdomen. Injections can also take place in your thigh or upper arms.

You will receive comprehensive instruction on the preparation and administration of this medication. Take your medication at regular intervals and do not take it more often than directed. It is extremely important to use exactly as directed in order to have an effective and safe treatment.

What are Semaglutide and Ozempic?

The drug Semaglutide is administered through injections and works by imitating the function of the GLP-1 hormone in the brain. This helps reduce appetite while adding additional benefits, such as limiting sugar production in the liver to reduce blood sugar levels and improving cardiovascular health by reducing inflammation.

Semaglutide is a medication that can be known by different names like Ozempic, Rybelsus, and Wegovy. This drug works by enhancing the natural secretion of insulin in the body, which leads to reduced appetite and weight loss. Based on various scientific studies, Semaglutide has shown excellent results in reducing body weight. Generally, patients can anticipate seeing a reduction of 15 to 20 percent in their body weight. In order to maintain that weight loss, lifestyle changes will need to be in place and practiced regularly.

What is Tirzepatide and Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is a supplement for weight loss that's considered a natural and safe solution for both men and women to reach their weight goals. Tirzepatide, also known as Mounjaro, is an injection medication that's recently been developed to treat type II diabetes and obesity. Some people have been using this medication to aid weight loss as well with a proper diet and exercise. To maintain the side effects of the injections, we recommend increased physical activity and other lifestyle changes such as a balanced diet.

How Do I Lose Weight With These Medications?

Losing weight with these medications is a two-step process. First, you must start by making sure to follow your doctor's instructions when it comes to taking the medications. You then must combine physical activity with a proper diet to see optimum results. Individuals using tirzepatide can lose as much as 21% of their body weight.

We understand that weight loss can be a difficult process to go through, which is why we are here for you every step of the way. Our providers will customize your treatment plan depending on your needs to help you reach your desired goal.

What Information Should I Provide to the Prism Team Before Starting Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?

It is extremely important to provide us with a thorough and honest medical history before beginning treatment with semaglutide or tirzepatide. This information will help us ensure that your weight loss program is the safest and most effective for you.

Some conditions that are extremely important to make us aware of are:

  • Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)

  • Diabetes

  • Kidney disease or use of dialysis

  • History of pancreatitis

  • History of alcohol abuse

  • Have any endocrine or metabolic disorders

  • Low blood sugar

  • Gallbladder complications

  • High cholesterol

  • Breast-feeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

  • Thyroid cancer or family history of thyroid cancer

  • Stomach issues

  • Previous episodes with anaphylaxis

  • Allergic reactions to other medications, foods, preservatives, or dyes

  • Liver disease

  • History of depression or suicidal thoughts

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide Medication Interaction

The primary medication that can interact with semaglutide or tirzepatide injections is insulin or other medication for managing diabetes. It is possible that other non-prescription drugs or supplements, smoking, alcohol, or illicit drugs can interact with semaglutide or tirzepatide.

What Happens if a Dose is Missed?

If you miss a dose of semaglutide or tirzepatide, take it as soon as you can, assuming it is not time for your next injection. If you skip a dose until it's time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not double up or take extra doses. If you miss a dose for more than 3 days, get in contact with the team at Prism for instruction to get on a new injection schedule.

What Precautions Should I Take When Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?

Drink plenty of fluids to maintain hydration while going through the weight loss program. Excessive loss of body fluid can pose risks when receiving injections of semaglutide or tirzepatide.

Receiving injections of weight loss medication can affect blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes, changes in diet may be required during the weight loss program to accommodate subsequent changes in blood sugar as well.

It is crucial for patients and their families to remain vigilant for signs of escalating depression or suicidal ideation. Be cautious of abrupt shifts in emotions, including feelings of anxiety, agitation, panic, irritability, hostility, aggression, impulsiveness, extreme restlessness, excessive excitement, hyperactivity, or difficulty sleeping. If you notice any of these changes, particularly during the initial stages of treatment or following a dosage adjustment, please reach out to Prism immediately for assistance.

It is extremely important for women to communicate with the weight loss provider you are seeing at PRISM if you have a desire to become or suspect you may be pregnant. Attempting to lose weight during pregnancy is not recommended as it can potentially harm the unborn child. Please consult the provider if you have any questions or concerns related to pregnancy and weight loss.

What Are the Potential Side Effects of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?

The more common side effects that patients sometimes experience when taking semaglutide or tirzepatide do not require medical attention. It is helpful to consult with the Prism team to ease your symptoms. Some of the common side effects include:

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Constipation

  • Stomach pain

  • Difficulty in breathing or swallowing

  • Fast heartbeat

  • Heartburn

What is an InBody Scan?

InBody Scan uses BIA (Bioelectrical impedance analysis) to measure body composition, to determine muscle mass, body fat, and total body water. Impedance is measured by passing alternating low and high-frequency electrical currents through water in the body via contact with electrodes. Impedance is utilized to assess total body water (TBW), which in turn can be used to calculate your fat-free mass. Fat-free mass encompasses muscle and bone, excluding fat, and represents the non-fatty portion of your body. Using the found measurements, body fat composition can be determined.

InBody Scan is an improvement over other BIA technologies in that it uses a combination of low and high frequencies to accurately determine extracellular, intracellular, and total body water. Using multiple frequencies allows InBody devices to achieve a high level of precision, compared to other BIA devices.

Why is Determining Body Composition and Fat Mass Important?

It is important to determine body composition to set a realistic and accurate benchmark, especially when attempting to lose weight. This is because measuring total body weight does not give an accurate indication of how much fat has been lost; the same amount of weight loss can be composed of muscle, fat, and water.

InBody Scan can provide a comprehensive overview of your body composition, giving you the information necessary to see true improvement in fat loss.

Weekly B-12 Injections During Weight Loss Program

Vitamin B12 plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of your body's nerves, blood cells, and DNA. Its presence is essential for the proper functioning and vitality of these vital components. Maintaining sufficient levels of vitamin B-12 is crucial for preventing megaloblastic anemia, a condition that can lead to fatigue and cognitive impairment commonly known as brain fog. By ensuring adequate B-12 intake, you can safeguard your well-being and enhance your overall vitality.

Since the mid-1950s, scientists have been well aware of B-12's capacity to facilitate the processing and removal of fat in the body. B-12 is not produced within the body and is found naturally in meat and other animal products.

What are the Benefits of B-12 Injections?

The benefits of your B12 injection may include:

  • Immediate improved energy

  • Improved metabolism

  • Better mood and cognition

  • Boosted long-term energy
